About the Program

Hendersonville Barber Academy is a private Institution dedicated to training the next generation of skilled barbers in the Greater Nashville Area. Our mission is to develop competent, professional barbers by providing an authentic, near real barber shop setting. We aim to ensure that our graduates are floor ready from day one.

Our community-focused program attracts students seeking high-quality men’s haircut training with an emphasis on technical proficiency, business, marketing, and communication skills. We offer programs for those pursuing a TN Master Barber License as well as Advanced Education Programs for licensed barbers and cosmetologists nationwide.

For aspiring barbers, we offer Full-Time, Part-Time, and Apprenticeship Programs, along with Basic and Advanced Men’s Cutting & Styling Courses for already-licensed professionals looking to enhance their skills. Our academy shares space with our flagship professional barber shop, Hendersonville Barbers, giving students access to an experienced and highly rated team to guide them through their journey.

  • Full Time Master Barber Program

Our full-time program requires a commitment of 1,500 course hours, with a minimum of 32
hours per week. Most students complete the program in approximately one year, though
accelerated options are available for those able to commit up to 48 hours per week.

General and Chemical Training - 600 hours:
The initial 600 hours can be completed online or in class, with support available during
all hours of operation. Students can interact with educators through video, voice chat,
phone, or email. On-site classes are encouraged but not mandatory.

    Practical Training - 900 hours:
The 900 physical training hours focus on hands-on barber training. The Student Barber Floors are open all hours of operation to complete the practical portion of the program.

Upon completing all 1,500 hours, students are eligible to apply for the TN Master Barber
License and sit for the state exam.

  • Part Time Master Barber Program

Our part-time program offers flexible hours for students with work or family commitments.

General and Chemical Training - 600 hours:
This portion can be completed online or in class at a pace that fits the students schedule, requiring less than 32 hours per week.

    Practical Training - 900 hours:
The practical portion must be completed within six months of finishing the theory hours.

This program allows students to transition into barbering at their own pace, with an approximate
completion time of 18 months. Upon completing the full 1,500 hours, students can apply for the
TN Master Barber License and take the state exam.

  • Apprenticeship Barber Program

For those seeking an apprenticeship, the state of Tennessee allows Master Barbers with 10+
years of experience to mentor apprentices. Our program includes:

750 Hours of Synchronous Practical & Theory Education: Access flexible, online theory courses to prepare for your apprenticeship. Complete
practical hours in class or on the floor.

    Apprenticeship Placement:
We maintain a network of licensed Master Barbers and can assist in placing apprentices
    if needed.

After completing the 750 hours of theory and practical education, students may apply to take the
written portion of the TN Master Barber Exam. Upon passing, they can complete the final 750
apprenticeship hours under the supervision of a Master Barber to finish the program.
